Re: My 2010 Movie Viewing List

Postby DarthLocke on Mon Apr 05, 2010 2:23 am

Well I have watched alot of movies already this year, but I will start with today and work may way from there :)

My 2010 Movie Watch List:

1. The Jacket: The Jacket is one of my favorite films of all time. There is this gritty dark style to the film, but over all it's one of my favorites as the premis is about time travel and about this guy that keeps doing the right thing no matter what happens to him. The film also is sudo errie as the time traveling is induced by drugs and entrapped in a full restraint jacket, in morgue drawer, in an mental institution. The film is fluid and open to interpertations, but the cast is unique: K. Knightley, A. Brodey, J. J. Liegh, C. Christopherson, and an interesting performance by D. Craig. --04/04/10

2. Amelia: So I watched this movie for the first time yesterday. Although one of my favorite male actors is in it, E. McGregor, I was hesitent because I heard so many people didn't like it. I can't say it will be a favorite movie, but I thought it was a rather good movie. What I really liked about it was the diary kind of style going back and forth between times in Amelia Earhart's life. I felt like I was there. -I could feel the anticipation of woman as they began to fly, the creation of some of the neatest looking airplanes, and how media, propaganda, and sponcership is nothing new even back in the 30's. At times they even weaved real footage into the film which I though was a nice touch. It was inspiring and innovative. R. Gere is typical of his usual roles, same as E. McGregor, but H. **** really did a great job! --04-05-10

Well I don't have time to go through mini reviews so I will just List until I do

3. The Lovely Bone
4. African Quenn
5. Star Trek 11 (for like the 10th time)
6. Men who Staire at Goats
7. It's Complicated
8. The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus
9. Sherlock Homes
10. Poyno on a Cliff by the Sea
11. A Room with a View (rewatch)

Yet for all their evolution, they form no bonds.
Love does not exist for them. They are incapable of dreaming,
Of contemplating beauty, Of knowing something greater than themselves.

It's a very simplistic film, wierd lighting, gritty, low budget...but the story is what makes it as it is sort of in contrast to all of those other things.
